5 Small Blogging Tips You Should Implement Immediatel

Few days ago, Pat Flynn from SmartPassiveIncome.com published a post that helped him get millions of pageviews and land him on the front page of Reddit.com. It was shared 1,134 times by the time I am writing this.

Here is a wrap-up on the 5 tips combined with some of my own thoughts.

1. Use “LITTLE EXTRA THING THAT YOU CAN’T MISS” Headline

Why – If your headline isn’t good enough to get people to read the first sentence, your content may as well not even exist. Popular sites like BuzzFeed and ViralNova are taking advantage of this tactic.
How - Use “a little something extra you cannot miss” in the titles of blog posts.
"a little something extra you cannot miss" title

2. Start your post with a relevant story

Why - We love stories, so do our readers. We can’t help but finish a story that we’ve started, so when you start your post with a story, people are likely to continue reading, and the further down the page they go, the more likely they are to keep going.
How - The story should be relevant to the message and transformation you’re trying to get across to your audience.

3. Add a Subscribe or Opt-in form in popular pages

Why - Heavily visited pages are a goldmine of leads
How - Log into your analytics account and find the 5 most viewed pieces of content on your site over the past 2 months. Add opt-in or subscribe forms for your email list on those pages or posts.

Tip: If you have yet to start an email list, then this tip isn’t any good for you right now, but it’s something to keep in mind for later – hopefully sooner than later.

4. Isolate super important links within post content

Why - We cannot control the device people use to consume our content. Have you ever tried using your finger to tap on a link on a mobile device, and clicked the wrong link instead?
How - The title of this tip speaks itself ;) And in an email, it’s probably more important to isolate links than within a blog post.

5. After the post is up online, share it on Facebook and Twitter and other social media channels

Why - Blogging isn’t just about publishing content, it’s also about marketing that content and getting it out into the world for people to read, share and take action.
How - Before sharing, take a little bit of extra time to create an image with some text and your logo on top of it. Then spread it along with your post in the social network. You’ll be surprised at how the result comes out!

If you have a VA or graphic designer on your team with the capability to create images like this, then of course you’d want to outsource this task to them.

Pat also created a great post that will help us find the images we’re allowed to use for this type of situation.

But if you don’t have one, or prefer to do these yourself (which is what I do) it’ll take some time to learn how to do it quickly.

Get Better SERPs in Google

Recently I have noticed that with some of our friends that are ranking pretty high in Googles SERPS aren’t receiving as many organic visits as their SERPS ranking suggests. Their actual clicks/ CTR for their SERPS position just aren’t meeting their expected number of organic visits.

Most of these friendss are all ranking in the top 2 or 3 SERPS positions of Google for some fairly heavy, quality keywords and often it’s Wikipedia or the industries leaders that are in the top 2 or 3 SERPS rankings above our client’s page. This means that our clients are often not moving up the SERPS for many months at a time, and this got me inspired to think of a few ways to get the most out of the positions they already have, and to appeal more than the sites ranking above them in the SERPS.

Better SERPs!

After a while of though I came up with a few what I think are good, proven ways to gain an increase in Organic traffic for your SERPS position, here they are:

Site Links:

This isn’t something you can really choose to have or not as the links come from external sites, however you can choose which links you want to keep and which you don’t want to link to you. Considering this, make sure you remove any irrelevant links or unhelpful ones, this will make sure all the traffic coming to your site is relevant and that Googles spiders only sees relevant links, therefore ranking your page more highly in SERPS in terms of relevance and weight.

Better Snippets:

If you can’t rank more highly than your competitors then try and enticed potential viewers in other ways. In your SERPS you will have your Meta description, try and tailor this to be more engaging to your audience by including prices if yours are competitive, your location and interesting relevant info that will pull the viewers in and tell them why they should choose to click your site over the other 2 above you in the SERPS rankings.

Domain Name:

A good domain name may also help. Although some blogs and guides I’ve read claim that keyword-rich domains can hinder click through rate I don’t believe that to be the case. Simply make sure that the correct information is present. Don’t over do it and include 6 or 7 words, just stick to 2 or 3 relevant keywords or your brand name (preferably one that is easy to remember so that visitors can easily revisit your site).

Natural Link Building

Many ways to build Natural Link Building, but this way of course must be done in real time and not impressed rush. Therefore, as much as possible we build links that are accurate, natural, and quality. Below list of example backlinks profile and web 2.0 from high authority sites:
